Joan Jett - 1982
The second picture I have chosen is of Joan Jett. Taken on 2nd November 1982 at the London Hammersmith Odeon. Even though I took a full roll of colour and a full roll of black and white at this gig, I only ended up with half a dozen half decent pictures, this being the best. I like the moody, shadowy lighting and it was especially satisfying to get this shot as, not only was there a row of very tall people in front of me, but cameras were not allowed into the Hammy O at this time so I had to sneak the camera in and then not be seen taking photos by security. More photos from this gig are in the Gallery

Steve Priest - Sweet - 1981
My first entry in this blog is of Steve Priest of Sweet. Taken on 4th January 1981 at the Lyceum Theatre in London. This was my first attempt at taking photos at a gig and I wasn’t too disappointed with the results. At a time when you couldn’t shoot hundreds of photos ausing your phone at no cost, these were the days where you had just 24 or 36 chances to get a few good pics and each one cost you money however good or bad! Although probably not my best photo of Sweet, this is still my favourite. This was my first ever gig and what a gig it was! I’d missed out on seeing Sweet in 1978 at Hammersmith Odeon, which turned out to be the last time they played the UK with Brian Connolly and I was gutted. So I was over the moon when they announced the gigs in 1981. I saw them twice that year, at the Lyceum and then Queen Marys College in March. Photos from that second gig can be found HERE. I have more (and better?) photos from Queen Marys College but this first gig was by far my most cherished.More photos of these gigs are in the Gallery HERE
